Visiting a church for the first time can be frightening. So, to calm your fears, we thought we’d let you know what you can expect. At Midway, you will find a welcoming atmosphere where people wear everything from jeans and t-shirts to suits.
Sundays at Midway are a wonderful time of worship and fellowship. Bring your Bible to follow the message through the Scriptures. Bibles are available at the Welcome Center, if you need one.
Musical worship is Christ-focused and God-honoring–our choir and praise band lead the congregation in traditional hymns as well as contemporary worship songs. Youth, 6th grade and older, attend these services. KIDZ Church (1st-5th grade) is offered during both worship services as well.
If you have any questions or need directions, visit one of our two Welcome Centers located in the Family Life Center and Education Building lobbies or ask one of our greeters (they wear Midway lanyards). Here you can get directions to the nursery or children’s ministry locations…there is always someone willing to answer questions and help you find your way to the right place. We are excited that you’ve decided to join us and look forward to meeting you.
Our aim is for all worship to be Bible-based, Christ-centered, God-glorifying, Spirit-filled, and people-oriented. The Word of God is to be lived, so our messages are life applicable. Simply put, the message on Sunday will prepare you for Monday. It is our strong belief that God is no respecter of persons. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is for all who will repent of their sin and place their faith in Him as Lord and Savior. All are welcome to worship the Lord Jesus. We are a Family of Families who enjoy the wonder and excitement of worshipping and serving the Lord of Glory!
Midway Baptist Church is a member in the Southern Baptist Convention and stands firmly on the following beliefs:
My friend, have you given your life to the Lord? Do you have the assurance that if you were to die right now, you would go straight to heaven? If not, please let us tell you how you can be saved.
Admit Your Need First, you must understand that you are a sinner by nature and by choice. The Bible says, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Rom.3: 23).
Abandon Self-Effort Second, you must understand that you cannot save yourself by your efforts. The Bible is very clear that it’s “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy He saved us.” (Titus 3:5) Again, “By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourself: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Eph.2: 8-9)
Acknowledge Christ’s Payment Third, you must believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for your sins. The Bible says, “God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rom.5:8) That means He died in your place. Your sin debt has been paid by the blood of Jesus Christ, which “cleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)
Accept Jesus Christ as Savior Fourth, you must put your faith in Jesus Christ and Him alone for your salvation. The Bible says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31) Have you ever taken this all-important step of faith? If not, we urge you to do it right now, for Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh to the Father but by Me.” (John 14:6)
Will you offer the following prayer to God today? “O God, I’m a sinner, I’m lost, and I need to become a follower of Jesus. I know I can’t save myself, so right now, once and for all, I trust You to save me. Come into my life, forgive my sin, and make me Your child. I give You my life. I will live for You as You give me strength.” If you will make this heartfelt prayer, God will hear and save you! Jesus has promised He will not turn away anyone who comes to Him by faith (John 6:37). He will make you a child of God if you will repent and turn to Him. (John 1:12)
